Project Background
A copper mine in Tibet is operated by a major state-owned central enterprise, with 20 years of traditional exploration and development history and cumulative proven copper resources of about 10 million tons. Located in an extreme environment above 5,000 m altitude, traditional exploration methods are difficult and extremely costly to deploy. To validate this innovative technology, the client requested "blind-box" detection across both known and unknown mining areas.
Technical Challenges
- Extreme environment above 5,000 m altitude
- Complex geology with harsh geographic and climatic conditions and a fragile ecosystem
- Back-to-back validation
Detection Results
Deep-Explor® remote detection delineated 18 anomaly targets with an estimated ~10 million tons of additional copper resources — equivalent to completing in a few months the prospecting output of 20 years of traditional exploration, doubling the mine's economic value past the trillion-yuan level.
Client Value
- Green exploration avoided damage to the plateau's ecological environment
- Reduced the high cost of traditional exploration at high altitude
- Reserve growth made the mine one of China's super-large copper deposits
